Buddha Purnima marks the birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha , the founder of Bhuddhism. His birth anniversary usually falls in april on may or april on full moon day is celebrated across the world. This year 2020 , Buddha Purnima will be celebrated on 7 may.
On this day devotees offer prayers to Buddha.Some of them also visit Mahabodhi Temple , a UNESO world heritage site,located in Bihar .However this year devotees can't visit Mahabodhi Temple due to the coronavirus lockdown. One offer prayers to Buddha at home. The Buddha Purnima ,which is also known as Vesak Day .Buddha purinma will be celebrated all across the world.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shall be participating in the Buddha Purnima celebration tomorrow, 7 may 2020. Prime minister shri Narendra modi shall be delivering the keynote address in the world.
Minister of culture, Govt of india in collaboration with the international Buddhist Confederation, a global Buddhist umbrella organization is holding a virtual prayer event with the participation of all the supreme heads of the Buddhist Sanghas from around the world.
Buddhist faith is recorded to be the day when lord Buddha received enlightenment. This year will be the 2582nd birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha .
In india ,places like Bodh Gaya , kushinagar ,lumbini and Sarnath , Spread across Bihar and utter Pradesh are counted as important pilgrimage sites associated with the life of Gautam Buddha.

It is celebrated especially in sikkim, ladakh, Arunachal pradash , Bodh gaya , various parts of north Bangla such as kalimpong , Darjeeling and kurseong and Maharashtra ( where 77% of total Indian Buddhist live ) as well as others parts of indian sites .
IN THAILAND ,in Thailand Buddha birthday celebrates as visakja puja and is public holiday, people gather at temple to hear semons ,give donation and chant prayers
In TAIWAN , in taiwan Buddha birthday is national holiday, Devotees pour fragrant water over Buddha Statues to symbolize the beginning of a fresh start in life .
